Sculptra BBL: Curvy & Lifted Sans Surgery

The Bottomline: About Sculptra

A perky, shapely behind is a desired asset and today's trendsetters like J.Lo, Beyonce and the Kardashans have made curvy, lifted and full, totally fashionable. The truth is, stepping out in a bikini is something a lot of us dread, especially when our own BBB (boobs, belly and butt) contour is cringe-worthy despite rigourous exercise and fastidious dieting. Despair no more! At Juvly, the non-surgical Sculptra BBL is possibly the next best option to a surgical Brazilian Butt Lift which is a two-in-one liposuction and fat augmentation procedure.

Sculptra, is an injectible solution whose active ingredient poly-l-lactic acid,  is FDA-cleared for adding volume to the face by promoting collagen formation. When injected to the butt area, it subtly round, fills, lifts and (some say) improves skin structure over time.

Sculptra BBL versus the Brazilian Butt Lift

Sculptra promotes the production of collagen, a skin component that gives it structure and elasticity. Unlike the Brazilian Butt Lift which transfers fat from one area of the body to the buttocks, Sculptra rebuilds from within. Typically, upto three treatment sessions are required, spaced 3-6 weeks apart. Unlike fillers for the lips where results are immediately obvious, Sculptra's action builds up over time and may only be appreciable by the second treament. It is great for rounding up the butt in an athletic frame or giving some lift to a saggy mommy bottom, but its volume enhancing effects are more subtle and natural-looking than dramatic. It is cost-effective with effects lasting upto two years.

The Sculptra BBL is non-surgical so there is practically no down-time, compared to the surgical BBL where downtime of 2-3 weeks is expected. Like any surgery, the patient undergoing the surgical BBL may suffer from complications arising from the administration of anesthesia, blood loss during surgery and other post-op complications like fat rejection. These are NOT experienced with the Sculptra BBL where only numbing is required.

Consultation & Procedure

A consultation with a skilled professional will set the right expectations for your aesthetic goals. It is minimally invasive and is a good choice for men and women who want a shapelier behind - like they do squats and lunges with a personal trainer on a regular basis. It is also a good alternative for those who don't have enough fat for harvesting and grafting. The volume augmentation is not as noticeable as a surgical butt lift (BBL) so it's not like comparing Coke to Pepsi. A big bonus is that a good number of clients reported an improvement of cellulite in the area.

Numbing is done by injecting a small amount of local anesthetic (e.g. Novocain) and or spreading some topical anesthetic. The number of vials used varies from patient to patient depending on existing physique and aesthetic goals. Most doctors prefer to use a thin needle while others opt for a cannula when injecting as it is said to minimize bruising. The Injector evaluates your body and carefully marks where the injection sites should be. Expect the procedure to last between 15-60 minutes with little or no discomfort (2 out of 10). Unlike in Botox and fillers where manipulation is discouraged post-treatment, frequent massage over the next  5-7 days is encouraged to distribute Sculptra evenly. Limit engaging in strenuous activities for for the first day or so.

The procedure can use upto 20 vials although most doctors use around 10 vials. At Juvly we usually consume 5 vials per treatment and typically do two one-hour treatments. The usuai cost is $4500 but we have specials that cut it down to $1,999 per treatment. Some clients require a third treatment but you should be enjoying a perkier silhouette just weeks after your first injection. As for expectations, keep them real - Sculptra may not increase volume the same ways grafts and implants do, but you'll have a behind that looks toned, full and youthful.
