Lets Watch: Nicole and Sculptra

People who long for the Sculptra aesthetic can now obtain it through our specialists at Juvly. Sculptra is a dermal filler that is different from others because it actually stimulates an immune response in the patient’s body. This immune response leads to the production of new collagen to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging or sun damage. Collage is a protein that’s found under the layers of skin and keeps the skin elastic. As people age the body makes less and less collagen, which leads to dry skin and wrinkling. Sculptra, whose main ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid, targets the lines that appear on the lower face such as marionette lines and adds volume to areas the patient believes are dry or too thin, such as their lips, cheeks or the hollows around their temples.

Since the body needs time to make collagen, patients may see Sculptra results after a couple of weeks as opposed to right away, which is the case with some other dermal fillers or injectables. But patience pays off: Sculptra reviews are generally very positive.

Before the treatment, our patient has a consultation with one of our Juvly specialists to make sure that they’re a good candidate. During the treatment, the patient is seated in a chair. Their skin is cleaned, and the specialist may give them something to numb the treatment area if they request it. The poly-L-lactic acid is added to sterile water, and the specialist injects it deeply into the skin at a specific angle. The angle depends on whether the dermal filler is injected into the lower part of the patient’s face or around their temple or the arch of their cheek. The specialist is expertly trained to know how to inject the dermal filler into the correct layer of skin to maximize the Sculptra aesthetic and avoid nerves and blood vessels. It’s also important that the dermal filler be evenly distributed to avoid knots of granular tissue called granulomas. Granulomas are the body’s response to inflammation.

A session lasts between a half and hour to an hour. The duration depends on how many areas of the face the patient wants to be treated. When it’s over, the patient can sooth the injection site or sites with an ice pack. Then they can leave the clinic and go on with the rest of their schedule. The patient does not need to take time off from work to recover, though we recommend a day or two of rest.

As with other injectables, the patient will have a bit of bruising and swelling for a few days after the treatment. They can be eased with ice packs, and they go away after a short time. Our patients get best Sculptra results if they have at least two sessions scheduled about a month and a half apart, though people who have deep furrows and folds may need more treatments. The Sculptra reviews from our patients are overwhelmingly positive. The treatment price is $699.
