Lets Watch: Juvederm Volbella Walkthrough

Juvederm Volbella lip filler is a dermal filler that's made specifically for lips. It adds volume, softness and plumpness even as it reduces the appearance of lines around the lips. Developed by the same people who developed Botox, Juvederm uses hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar that hydrates the skin. The one problem with hyaluronic acid is that it absorbs water, and this can lead to bruising when it’s injected. Juvederm Volbella doesn’t use as much hyaluronic acid as other fillers based on this substance, so there is less swelling. Volbella is best used on a client who already has lovely big lips and just needs a bit more filling out.

If a patient comes to our clinic because they have lips that are too dry, thin and unattractive, our dermatologists will probably treat them with Juvederm Ultra Plus before giving them the Volbella treatment.

Our clients appreciate Juvederm Volbella because it avoids the trout lips that can come with other lip fillers. Instead, they have more natural, luscious Kylie Jenner lips.

Volbella makes use of Vycross technology, which lifts the lips and lasts longer than other fillers. In Vycross technology, the filler is made of different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. Other fillers use 100 percent hyaluronic acid with a high molecular weight. Clients are still pleased with their Kylie Jenner lips even many months after their treatment. This is long after other lip fillers have deflated. Clients report that Volbella feels silkier and smoother than other types of fillers, and it’s hard for both the client and the onlooker to know that they’ve had any dermal filler treatment at all.

The Procedure

The patient has a consultation with the doctor to make sure they are a good candidate for Volbella lips. Good candidates are in good mental and physical health, do not smoke and are not allergic to Juvederm.

The treatment is an outpatient procedure, so the client goes home shortly after the treatment ends. The lips are first numbed, though Volbella does come with lidocaine mixed with the hyaluronic solution. The dermatologist and the patient decide which area of the lips need a little more volume, then the lip filler is injected with a fine needle. Some clients report feeling a pinch as the needle enters, but the procedure itself is fairly painless.

The injections take a few seconds, and the session doesn’t last longer than a half an hour. The results can be seen right away, and the Volbella lips should last as long as eight months.

After the Procedure

The lips will be a little swollen and tender for a few days. The client shouldn’t apply lipstick for at least 12 hours and needs to stay out of the sun and places of high heat and humidity like steam rooms for at least two weeks.

Clients who are interested in this new and exciting way to have smooth, succulent, long-lasting big lips should call for a consultation with one of our Juvly dermatologists. Our number is 614.686.3627.
