IPL Photofacials: Zap Bad Skin and Rejuvenate Fast

Everyone wants to have glowing and flawless skin - and to have it fast, safe, and easy. Since its introduction in the 1990s, the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) procedure  has been known to zap away imperfections and is considered one of the most effective non-invasive rejuvenating treatments for aging skin.  Traditional IPL is  a non-laser high intensity light source with wavelength intensity ranging from 400-1200 nm, creating destruction at the cellular level  of the skin through the spread of the thermal energy.

Facial skin is made up of three layers: the outer epidermis with cornified cells which can dull the complexion, the highly vascularized and  collagen-rich dermis and the fatty subcutaneous layer. Due to aging, sun exposure, heredity and the presence of conditions like acne, scars, rosacea and  age spots, these layers weaken and  skin can appear thin, wrinkled, lined, sagging, rough & blemished.  Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™), addresses those imperfections in a safe a gentle manner with fast results that improve over time as the skin thickens and becomes healthier.

In the Lumenis system, the light is absorbed by "chromophores or molecules that are responsible for a lesion's color". These are either vascular or pigmented in nature and the reason why it is highly effective for vascular lesions such as rosacea and broken capillaries  as well as pigmented lesions like sunspots and freckles.

Sam Peck, one of Juvly's executives was thrilled at how fast and comfortable the whole Lumenis Photo Facial was,  and how amazing the results were a few days post-treatment!  See for yourself as he gives us a walkthrough:

Longtime sufferers of redness and pigmentatiom can see what this latest option in modern cosmetic dermatology did for Sam's skin - transforming blotchy, reddish skin with visibly enlarged pores (sorry Sam!) to something radiant, even-toned and almost poreless. Note that the lines were diminished even without Botox! All these with only minor and brief post-treatment side effects such as slight swelling and redness.

In the past, it was "no pain, no gain" - something which modern IPL Treatment has changed to "true gains without the pain".

But what we see on the outside is just a fraction of the changes going on underneath that gave Sam (and possibly you) radiant, firmer, more supple and plumper-looking skin. When  short pulses of  light is directed over the skin, it reaches the deeper layers where it delivers three-fold action of repairing damage and preventing the future signs of aging:

  • dissolving of the superficial layer so it sloughs off to reveal younger cells,
  • stimulation of collagen growth responsible for creating volume and structure in the connective tissue layer of the skin and
  • rejuvenation of the genes of the affected skin at the DNA level after only 2-2 photofacials per year; in a sense the cells act like younger versions of themselves! (1)
