DIY Exfoliating Scrub: Juvly Aesthetics

DIY Exfoliating Scrub: Juvly Aesthetics

Having trouble finding a good exfoliating scrub? Luckily I have a winner! And you can make it at home. This is a lemon-and-sugar scrub that helps hydrate skin and make it glow in five minutes. It's seriously that good!! Just make sure to use it before bed, though. Lemon is a great astringent, but it can also briefly increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. This is my favorite at home scrub! I hope you love it to!

1 whole lemon
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 tablespoon of honey
A few drops of water
1 tablespoon of olive oil

Step 1: Slice a lemon and squeeze both halves into a small bowl (minus the seeds, of course).

Step 2: Add two tablespoons of sugar (reason: exfoliation) and one tablespoon of honey, stirring well to form a medium-thick consistency. If the scrub is too thick, add a few drops of water.
"Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it pulls water into the skin to keep it moisturized," says Shamban.

Step 3: Massage a tablespoon of olive oil onto your skin to protect your face from overly abrasive sugar granules.
"Olive oil is filled with anti-inflammatory properties and cell-replenishing lipids, which are great for dry, sensitive skin," Shamban explains.

Step 4: Apply the lemonade mixture to your face using circular motions—be gentle under your eyes and around your nose—and leave it on for five minutes.

Step 5: Rinse skin with cool water, pat dry, and apply a thick moisturizer for an extra glow. If you have any leftover scrub, massage it into your hands to buff away callouses and rough patches.
