The most important lessons I've learned about skin care are what you do to your face before you go to sleep. Here are some steps I take every night to keep my skin clear and beautiful.
STEP 1: CLEANSE
Cleanse always cleanse! (Use appropriate cleanser for your face.. Sensitive, oily, etc.)
STEP 2: EXfoliate
Use a gentle exfoliator ( or anything with jojoba oil/beads is great! Never use St. Ives-it creates lessons on your skin and can cause more breakouts--eeek).
STEP 3: TONE
Toning is important. It will help kill any remaining bacteria on the skin and bring your skin's pH level back to a normal state allowing products to penetrate properly.
STEP 4: HYDRATE
Lastly use your favorite hydrating or brightening products. You could use something as simple as coconut oil to soften your skin and keep it hydrated or use products with hydroquinone in them to lighten and even your skin tone :)
